Sea Ilfracombe Maritime Festival Saturday 3rd & Sunday 4th September 2022

Elayne Clarke  26-08-2022

We are delighted to be sponsoring this year’s Sea Ilfracombe Maritime Festival which takes place around the beautiful harbour in Ilfracombe, Devon.

The Sea Ilfracombe Maritime Festival started in about 2016.  It started as a simple folk event with the participation of shanty bands singing around the town.  The festival has since grown significantly and is now a full on free family festival which takes place on the first weekend in September covering 2 days of music, food, arts and crafts and a full programme of children’s entertainment, including punch and Judy, face painting, pirates and much more.

The organisers have chosen these dates to extend the holiday season.

The organisation employs local musicians, local arts and crafts people to demonstrate their skills on various stalls.  In addition there are 13 to 15 varied food vendors to keep the hungry visitor fed and watered!

The festival supports local organisations and businesses including the RNLI, The Yacht Club, Sub-Aqua Club and the Combe Martin Sea Angling Club who arrange fun fishing from the pier. Also there is an involvement from the Ilfracombe Rotary Club and the Lions Club and there will be a stall run by the Royal Marines Association.

The Festival actively supports the worthy cause of a plastic free Devon.

The street entertainers include Mermaid storytelling, Captain Coconut, traditional Punch and Judy, face-painters, Captain Jack Sparrow and the commodore.  The North Devon pirates play an active role which is a delight to the children.

A great day is guaranteed for both young and old.

Please come along to support the festival and enjoy the fun.  You will have a great and fun day out!
