Defamation DEFAMATION
The law on defemation is govered by the Defemation Act 1952 and protects a persons reputation.
Defemation has two forms; Libel and Slander. Libel is a defamatory publication in a form which is permanent such as writing or painting. Slander requires proof of damage except in certain circumstances.
Words which tend to lower the Claimant in the estimation of others can be classed as defamatory.
